Tao Ramen

Jarun is steadily making its mark on Zagreb’s foodie map, and a new reason for this is Tao of Ramen, a pan-Asian restaurant located next to the Jarun Market. This place which spreads across some 50 square meters brings together Japanese and Chinese cuisine, with a special focus on homemade ramen. The restaurant is run by Tao Wang, a chef from China who has lived in Zagreb for more than 20 years. “Tao” also reflects his personal cooking philosophy—patient, precise, and with devotion.

The warm interior is decorated with Japanese figurines, Chinese trinkets, and lanterns, and there’s also a terrace to enjoy in sunny days. The menu includes bao buns, dim sum, gyoza, takoyaki, tempura, poke bowls, gong bao chicken, Szechuan beef, and other Asian specialties. The signature dish are, of course, rich, deep-flavoured, aromatic soups – ramen soups.

A selection of local and Asian beers accompanies the food, but the wine list is still quite limited. Service is fast and friendly, and the overall atmosphere is authentic and welcoming.
