It is named after the bread crust. Korica is a euphemism for the crust in Croatian. It is famous for its buttery croissants, sticky cinnamon buns, and cronuts. You can enjoy crusty baguettes or sandwiches on-premises, pick them up to go, or get them delivered to your house via Glovo or Wolt.

You can get sustainably caught tuna cans, sardines, chocolate, gluten-free and ordinary flours, and fresh fruit and veg. They get fresh supplies on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you want the first pick.

At Meat The King you can get the highest quality meat, cold cuts, wine, and beer. They offer an interesting selection of peppers and Karlić truffle products. Every item at their store is GMO-free and made without additives, chemicals, and artificial flavors. You can come to browse the store or get it all delivered to your door via the Glovo app.

Vindija stocks all kinds of milk and dairy products of their own making, and by other Croatian companies as well. We especially liked their range of Vindija fruit juices, an amazing protein program, and daily fresh chickens. Bio&Bio was the first health food store in Croatia, offering a completely different and wide range of sustainable, vegan, and vegetarian produce, teas, spices, pasta, and natural juices. Here you can pick up organic vegetables and cosmetics too. The store is nicely designed and super clean.

If you are after chocolates, sweets, luxurious alcoholic drinks, and liqueurs, look for the Deliiicije shop which sells a large selection of Croatian wines, liqueurs, and spirits, along with chocolates and pralines, all kinds of biscuits, and coffee. Deliiicije offers a selection of Croatian Island produce usually made in small batches and by hand.

A true local with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, Mr. Fogg offers an extensive cocktail list served by kind and fast staff. This likable bar is packed day and night, mostly with locals and tourists looking to experience one of the best steampunk-inspired interiors spread over two floors, and weather permitting, a small, but serene terrace.  

A couple of steps further towards Kvaternikov trg is Pizzeria Park, occupying the edge of one of the nicest little squares in Zagreb, offering traditional pizza Napoletana from the bread oven and unusual toppings. We liked the one with mortadella, artichokes, and pistachio creme on top of a cheese and mushroom base. You can get their pizza through Wolt and Glovo.

Book lovers and literature buffs enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with their cups of coffee at this members-only social club. If you like the vibe, you can become a member for a full year for the price of 1.5 euros.

With the simple and clean interior with a retro vibe, and comfortable outdoor seating Program bar attracts a loyal clientele of locals and tourists. They offer a large selection of natural juices, craft beer, and really great coffee, served by polite and affable staff. They secured a separate space for the non-smokers and the bathrooms are spotless.

Verde is a brunch and coffee spot offering an all-day Italian-inspired selection like tramezzini and soups, smoothies, juices from a local producer, and Italian coffee. Guests usually enjoy a glass of wine or a beer. The staff is super polite. Our experience was rounded with sweet coal focaccia and an Austrian lager.

Jellyfish in Space combines Japanese and Latin American street food on their menu, namely tacos and sushi, with unusual over-the-top cocktails. Guests love to take on their All You Can Eat offer, but the legend says no one has managed to surpass the 3rd course.

Purple Monkey, until recently a popular delivery-only restaurant, opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the city centre, in the neighbourhood which, not long ago, confirmed itself as the new “gastronomy zone” of Zagreb, near Martićeva Street and several famous Zagreb restaurants and bars. Its interior bursts with imagination and colours, and with jungle pictures on the walls, different shades of purple and purple monkey statues – its distinctive mascot, it sends a message of joy, creativity, and freedom. Whether with special selfie mirrors in the toilets, all-you-can-eat gyoza on Wednesdays or happy hour from 5 to 8 p.m., when you can lower the price of your bill or win a free lunch by rolling a dice, this fun place finds new ways to blow up its social media feeds. But more importantly, Purple Monkey takes the quality of its food and drinks very seriously, which is why it is often hard to get a table there. The fashionable combination of high-quality pan-Asian fusion cuisine and all the sought-after favourites such as bao buns, gyoza, yakitori and poke bowls together with the special attention given to fine cocktails served by bartenders in beautiful silk kimonos has proved to be a winning combination that quickly won the hearts of Zagrebians. You simply have to go and see for yourself!
