Chopstix is located in Središće, a part of Novi Zagreb, in the modern Meandar buildings.

It is a spacious Pan-Asian restaurant with a modern interior bathing in daylight. Chopstix is the Zagreb place of business of an experienced restaurateur and chef from Brač Island, with a rich offer of all types of Asian dishes prepared by Asian chefs in an open kitchen. The wide range of Pan-Asian dishes offered by Chopstix includes a large selection of sushi, rolls and salads, ramen, bao buns, handmade gyoza, teppanyaki, poke bowls, various Asian noodles, curries and creative desserts. Chopstix has many vegan options, and even itameshi – a unique combination of Japanese and Italian cuisine.

The service and atmosphere are pleasant and relaxed, and the portions are generous. The restaurant is suitable for a quick business lunch but also a relaxed private gathering. On Fridays, guests can enjoy light gigs of young musicians.

What is served?

Chopstix’s menu is quite extensive and it includes almost every Asian dish that pops into your mind. Without any doubt, their forte is sushi, prepared à la minute to the guest's order, so it is always fresh, neat and precise. Sushi fans will relish their selection of nigiri, hosomaki, sashimi and a large selection of standard, but also signature uramaki.

In addition to Asian classics such as various rolls and edamame, there are also several inventive tartares (meat and fish), miso and tom yum soups, bao buns with chicken and beef, handmade gyoza in meat and vegetarian versions, and interesting variations of hot appetizers such as crispy shrimp balls, satay shrimp skewers and chicken tikka. Chopstix offers three types of ramen, five poke bowls, katsu and vegetarian curry, butter and teriyaki chicken, two varieties of salmon fillet and two steaks with an Asian twist. There is also teppanyaki and four types of Asian stir-fry noodles.

Chopstix also prepares itameshi, which is a mix of Japanese and Italian specialties. These unique dishes, such as wafu pasta, kimchi carbonara, salmon with Japanese potato salad and matcha tiramisu, are absolute comfort food for all pasta lovers.

What our chefs had?

The Delicious Zagreb team visited Chopstix in lunchtime. The restaurant, decently decorated in the holiday spirit, warm and bathed in light, had just the right number of guests. The smells of various Asian culinary delights were reaching us from the kitchen. We started our lunch with sushi – more precisely, a dragon roll and gyozas. The generous portion of this vibrant uramaki roll with tempura shrimp, cucumber, avocado, unagi sauce and tobiko was a winner, as were the handmade gyozas with pork and vegetables served with ponzu sauce. Since it was a winter day, we decided on ramen to warm us up, and our imagination was also tickled by the salmon fillet with kimchi Alfredo sauce. We ended up sharing the Tantanmen ramen with pork belly, ground pork neck, marinated egg, ramen noodles, bok choy and chili oil between us because the portion is more than generous. The ramen is excellent – the stock is rich, the ingredients are fresh and having various textures, the chili oil gives just the right kick – very much recommended! The salmon dish belongs to itameshi cuisine because it is a salmon fillet served with Japanese potato salad, kimchi Alfredo sauce and crispy salmon skin. This mix of Italy and Japan delighted even those of us who are not big fans of this kind of fish. The salmon was perfectly cooked and served topped with a powerful Alfredo sauce that got its freshness and warmth from kimchi, and the crouton salad with cucumbers gave it that famous holiday touch. For dessert, we tried tiramisu with green tea.
