With Cynic, Martićeva Street finally got the kind of place it deserves – urban, stylish and relaxed, perfect for dropping by any time of day.
This all-day concept blends an artisan bakery, specialty coffee shop, bistro and bar – without pretense and unnecessary fuss – because here, skill is what’s on the menu. No surprise, given that the team behind the project also runs Kukuriku Bakery, Mali Bar and Lively Roasters.
Cynic is spacious, eclectic and warm: wood, black metal, brick walls with sketches and accents of pink tones and green plants give it a truly cosmopolitan vibe. The service is casual, the atmosphere inviting and every detail is thoughtfully designed – just the way Martićeva likes it.
The breakfast and brunch selection includes artisan bakery classics – such as croissants, cruffins and sandwiches – as well as popular brunch favorites like avocado toast, chia bowls, omelets and American pancakes.
Specialty coffee naturally takes the spotlight, but there are also creative twists like beetroot lattes and olive leaf lattes. Tea, kombucha, cold-pressed juices and smoothies cater to those who prefer a healthier morning rhythm.
The food is mostly vegetarian and vegan, but extremely creative. The concise menu features dishes such as seasonal creamy vegetable soup, mushroom pâté, Caesar salad with Jerusalem artichoke, roasted pumpkin curry, enchiladas and lasagna with pickled pear and walnuts.
The drinks selection is equally curated: natural wines and signature cocktails have already won over the neighborhood. The wine list hides gems like Meinklang, Mlečnik, Gut Oggau and Burja – the kind of names that make you say, “if you know, you know.”
Local natural winemakers such as Tomac, Šember and Kosovec are also represented, and the craft beer selection is spot on. The cocktail list features several variations of the Negroni, which is always a good sign.
