AHA! slow wine bar
Although we don’t really know how this new Zagreb wine bar got its name, we surely had an aha moment when we finally realized how unpretentious and simple everything about wine can and should be.
This laid-back new popular place for Zagreb wine lovers is the creation of a well-known Zagreb marketing expert whose passion for wine prevailed over a secure nine-to-five job and brought him to this charming street place on Medulićeva Street, in the old city centre, to live wine and bring it closer to all visitors. The interior is complemented with rustic brick walls decorated with used wine bottles and innovative menus, and the combination of blue and white together with a copper-clad bar makes everything brighter and more eclectic. The cozy wooden tables and chairs add to the warmth of the place, but also to the natural philosophy reflected in the wine program of about a hundred different names, all coming from organic and biodynamic wineries. Although colourful and international, the offer relies heavily on, naturally, Croatian wines, but also Italian ones, whose biggest fan is the owner Tino who is also personally in charge of their import. This also means that here, you will always have the opportunity to discover something new that you have not had the opportunity to taste on other city wine lists.
Due to the nature of the program and the more represented wineries, no wine is more expensive than 100 euros, while most of the names are in the range of 35 to 60 euros. The offer of wines poured open is also wide enough so everyone can find something to their liking. There is no food yet, but we’ve been told that they are planning something great in cooperation with their neighbour, a famous vegan restaurant.
If you are not confident in your wine skills, or you’re eager to discover new and unusual things, the owner is always nearby, competent and ready to help, so rest assured – you’re in safe hands.
